She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.Proverbs 31:25
Laughing at the days to come is not optimism. It is what you can do when you are not afraid of them.
Most of the dread you carry is about a version of the future you have built out of one bad afternoon. It is very detailed and it has not happened.
Strength and dignity are things you are described as wearing. Put on, deliberately, like a coat. Some days you choose them before you feel them.
One small thing
Write down the thing you are afraid of about next year. Then write what is actually true today.
